Activities Year Round

The nature of the Keweenaw is such that you can access old logging and other dirt roads for hiking or biking.  It is important to remember you are in a wilderness setting and to take necessary precautions; e.g., day pack with water, food and emergency items.  Always leave your itinerary with someone or a note on your cabin door.

The Peninsula is perfect for sea kayaking, hiking, and mountain biking.  There are old mines to explore or agates to find along stretches of Lake Superior shoreline. If a round of golf is on the agenda, the beautiful Keweenaw Mountain Lodge is nearby. Then of course there are the waterfalls and lighthouses to see. Shopping and fine dining are just minutes away. Be sure to check out the Links page for other things to see and do.

We are now open in the winter! There are many things to do in the snow and we have plenty of that.

Take in some sledding or snow-shoe right from your cabin door. Head right down to the lake for some ice fishing. Birders will enjoy our feeding stations attracting the local winter birds and occasional snowy owls. The 'dark skies" of the Keweenaw make star gazing easy and exciting.  Watch for Northern Lights and maybe hear the howl of the gray wolf.

Nearby, crosscountry ski on easy, local trails or challenge yourself at the Swedetown Winter Trails. Downhill Ski at Mt. Bohemia, the UP's most challenging extreme ski resort. Snow Mountain Biking is a new winter activity.  Local Bike shoppes can help you experience a new side of biking. Cheer on the Mushers and their dogs at the CopperDog 150 Dog Sled race.

Lake Bailey is a shallow wilderness lake; it is NOT a power boat or swimming lake.  A canoe, as well as various types of kayaks, and bikes are available for use.
